Days after Operation Akhal launched in J&K, there are ‘reports’ circulating on social media of an alleged violation of the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch on August 05th. These recent reports, which claim that Pakistan opened fire, are false. The Indian Army has strongly urged people to stop spreading false news and pictures.
Advisory by the Indian Army
Some official sources in the district claim that the Pakistan Army indulged in unprovoked firing on forward Indian posts along the LoC. These reportedly prompted retaliation from the Indian Army, and the exchange is said to have lasted for a solid 15 minutes.
The Pakistan Army has not yet issued any official statement or clarification. Tensions persist, but India’s communication seeks to counter misinformation and promote public calm in the sensitive border area.
