India Resumes Visa Services for Chinese Nationals After 5 Years

Visa

India has resumed tourist visa services for Chinese nationals five years after suspending them. The Indian Embassy in Beijing said Chinese citizens can apply starting July 24 by completing the online process and submitting documents at visa centers in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The move comes ahead of PM Narendra Modi‘s expected visit to China for the SCO summit next month. It also marks a fresh effort by both countries to ease tensions and improve travel and people-to-people ties.

India Resumes China Visas

India had to stop tourist visas in 2020 after a deadly clash in Galwan and rising border tensions. China welcomed the decision to reopen, calling it a step in the right direction. Talks over restoring direct flights are also underway. Last month, Indian pilgrims were allowed to visit Mount Kailash in Tibet for the first time since 2019. With troop pullbacks and high-level talks, both sides seem to be taking cautious steps to improve ties and reopen travel between the two countries.
