In a remarkable achievement, Indore has been crowned the cleanest city in India under the ‘Super Swachh League Cities’ category for the 8th time in a row. The announcement was made by President Droupadi Murmu during the ‘Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 Awards’ ceremony. Indore wins as cleanest city
Surat, Navi Mumbai, and Vijayawada followed Indore in the same category. Meanwhile, cities like Noida, New Delhi Municipal Council, Vita, and Panchgani were recognised as the cleanest in their respective population brackets.

The annual survey, conducted under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban’ by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, covered 4,500 cities this year—up from just 73 in 2016. Evaluated on 10 parameters and 54 indicators, the awards aim to reflect urban sanitation progress. This edition saw massive public participation, involving nearly 14 crore citizens through various platforms.
