Pakistan players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan have pleaded not guilty in their hearing over the BCCI’s complaint about ‘provocative gestures’ during the Super Four clash in the Asia Cup 2025. The gestures, including Rauf’s plane crash mimic and Farhan’s gun-like bat celebration, drew criticism in India. Both players appeared before the match referee, Richie Richardson, in Pakistan, accompanied by team officials.

Haris Rauf and Farhan’s Gestures Controversy

According to PTI, Rauf may be fined for using abusive language and aggressive gestures. Farhan denied breaking any rules, saying his celebration is a tradition in his Pakhtun tribe. Both players are expected to receive fines and demerit points, but they will not face match bans. Farhan also pointed out that Indian players like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni have used similar gestures in the past. The BCCI filed a formal complaint after the celebrations caused controversy among Indian fans.
