Several prominent Pakistani actors, including Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Ali Zafar and more, have had their Instagram accounts blocked in India. Indian users attempting to access these profiles now see the message: “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.” This digital restriction follows the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people. The attackers were linked to the Resistance Force, an offshoot of the banned Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
India bans the IG handle of Pakistani actors
Other celebrities affected include Sanam Saeed, Iqra Aziz, and Sajal Aly. In a broader crackdown, India has also banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar’s channel. Actor Fawad Khan’s Instagram account is still available to view on Instagram
These measures are part of a larger response that includes suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, downgrading diplomatic ties, and cancelling Pakistani visas, as tensions between the two nations intensify.
