For the past few days, IndiGo’s wave of flight cancellations has left passengers across the country panicking and struggling to manage last-minute disruptions. With over 500 flights cancelled for the second day in a row, the situation escalated into a nationwide crisis. In response, the Centre has stepped in, announcing that flight schedules should begin stabilising by Saturday, and full normalcy is expected within three days. A top-level inquiry has also been launched to fix responsibility for the chaos.

IndiGo’s Nationwide Crisis

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said emergency steps, including temporary relaxation of FDTL rules, were taken to safeguard passengers. Airlines must now provide real-time updates, automatic refunds, hotel stays, and special assistance for senior citizens and differently-abled travellers. The DGCA’s four-member committee will review airline preparedness, internal oversight, and compliance lapses to prevent such disruptions in the future.
