U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed his threats to substantially raise tariffs on Indian imports, accusing India of buying ‘massive amounts’ of Russian oil and reselling it at a profit in global markets. This warning follows the implementation of a 25% tariff on Indian goods, intensifying trade tensions between the two countries.
Indian Ministry Replies to Trump
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs swiftly dismissed these statements as “unjustified and unreasonable”, stating that the country’s oil imports were a response to global supply disruptions and aimed at ensuring affordable energy for its citizens.
Trade analysts warn that these escalating threats could derail ongoing U.S.–India negotiations and damage both diplomatic relations and economic stability.
