The United States of America has now entered the Iran-Israel conflict as it attacked major nuclear sites in Iran on Sunday. This move came as a shock because US President Donald Trump, on Friday, had given a two-week ultimatum to Iran to surrender. However, Trump called himself a ‘peacemaker’, and confirmed the attacks on Iran on Sunday.
Why did Trump attack Iran?
As per reports, the US had set an ultimatum, demanding that Iran halt uranium enrichment. Tehran has been enriching its uranium to up to 60% levels, nearer to the weapons-grade levels of 90%.
Trump reportedly made one last attempt to talk with Iran, but it fell through. Axios reported that Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Erdogan attempted to arrange talks between U.S. and Iranian officials. However, as Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei went into hiding, the plan for talks wasn’t successful.
