When is Diwali 2025? Know Date, Puja Timings and More!

Diwali 2025

Diwali, the radiant Hindu festival of lights, is eagerly awaited by devotees across the world. Symbolising the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, the festival is celebrated with great joy, devotion and splendour. However, for Diwali 2025, a major question has left many in doubt will Lakshmi Puja be observed on October 20 or October 21?

The confusion arises due to the Amavasya Tithi, which plays a crucial role in determining the date of Diwali. According to the Hindu lunar calendar, Diwali is celebrated on the Amavasya of the Kartik month. In 2025, the Amavasya Tithi begins on October 20 at 3:44 pm and ends on October 21 at 5:54 pm, leading to uncertainty among devotees about the most auspicious day for worship.

To resolve the confusion, Drik Panchang has clarified that Lakshmi Puja must be performed during Pradosh Kaal, the sacred period after sunset when Goddess Lakshmi is believed to visit devotees’ homes. In most Indian regions, Pradosh Kaal falls on the evening of Monday, October 20, 2025.
