Diljit Dosanjh Shares Cryptic Post Amid ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ Controversy

Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit Dosanjh has caught attention with a cryptic Instagram post that said, ‘Censored before release?’ The message comes at a time when two of his films are facing controversy. ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ will release overseas on June 27 but won’t be shown in Indian theatres. This follows backlash over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. His other film, ‘Punjab 95’, is also delayed, due to objections from the censor board.

Diljit’s Films face delays over Casting and Censorship

Dosanjh’s film Punjab 95, based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, remains unreleased. The film has faced opposition from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which demanded over 120 cuts. Khalra’s widow, Paramjit Kaur, has publicly opposed the censorship, stating that the film should be released without alteration.

In parallel, Dosanjh’s ‘ Sardaar Ji 3’ will skip Indian cinema amid backlash over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The decision comes amid rising tension between India and Pakistan following the recent terror in Pahalgam, which has further strained bilateral relations. Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, along with several other celebrities from across the border, reportedly faced restricted access on Indian social media platforms. Diljit Dosanjh’s cryptic post is being seen by many as a veiled comment on the ongoing hurdles surrounding Punjab 95, bringing attention to the debate on censorship and artistic freedom in Indian cinema.
