The probe into the Delhi blast case has revealed a sinister plan by a Jaish-linked white-collar terror module that intended to trigger explosions. According to sources, one of the accused has confessed that the conspiracy was hatched in 2023. Investigators believe the blast near the Red Fort on 10/11 was a panic detonation.
2 Years of Preparation for the Blasts
During interrogation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Dr Muzammil Shakeel, an associate of suicide bomber Umar Mohammad, admitted that he had been preparing for the blasts for nearly 2 years.
He spent this period sourcing explosives, remotes, and other materials required to assemble the devices. Muzammil was tasked with purchasing urea and ammonium nitrate, volatile compounds that become highly explosive when combined with certain chemicals.
Fertilisers and Chemicals Procured
Investigators revealed that Muzammil bought 26 quintals of NPK fertiliser worth Rs 3 lakh from Gurugram and Nuh in Haryana. Additional explosive components were procured from Nuh, while electronic parts were sourced from two different markets in Faridabad.
To store these chemicals safely, he even purchased a deep freezer. Umar handled the processing of fertilisers and arranged the necessary ingredients. A flour mill used by Muzammil to grind urea has also been recovered.
Self-Funded Conspiracy by Terror Module
Sources confirmed that the Delhi blast operation was entirely self-funded. The module raised Rs 26 lakh in cash to buy explosive materials. Umar contributed Rs 2 lakh, Muzammil added Rs 5 lakh, and their associates Adil Rather and Muzaffar Rather contributed Rs 8 lakh and Rs 6 lakh, respectively.
Another member, Shaeen Saeed from Lucknow, provided Rs 5 lakh. A dispute over money between Umar and Muzammil at Al Falah University resulted in Umar giving Muzammil his red EcoSport car, which was later recovered from Faridabad.
AK-47 Purchase and Foreign Links Exposed
In a major revelation, Muzammil confessed to buying an AK-47 rifle for Rs 6.5 lakh, which was later recovered from Adil Rather’s locker. He also identified his handler as Mansoor, while Umar operated under a handler named Hashim, both acting on instructions from an individual known as Ibrahim.
Muzammil, Adil, and Muzaffar also travelled to Turkey on instructions from Okasa, linked to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The trio was supposed to enter Afghanistan, but the plan collapsed when their handler withdrew after a week of waiting.
Multi-City Attack Plan
Investigators have learned that Umar had been studying bomb-making videos and literature online before acquiring explosive materials. The scale of preparation indicates that the group was planning coordinated blasts across multiple locations.
With foreign handlers, online radicalisation, and domestic networks involved, the conspiracy is now under intense scrutiny by multiple investigative agencies.
