Security was tightened across central Delhi on December 23, 2025. Protesters gathered near the Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro Station, prompting a high alert around the Bangladesh High Commission. The demonstration was organised by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), along with other Hindu groups. It was held to protest the killing of a Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das, in Bangladesh. Protesters raised concerns over what they described as continued atrocities against Hindus in the country.
Delhi Police Tighten Security Measures
Anticipating the protest, Delhi Police deployed extensive security arrangements. Multiple layers of barricading were put in place to prevent demonstrators from reaching the Diplomatic Enclave. Police officials said three layers of barricades were erected along San Martín Marg. Additional police and paramilitary personnel were stationed across the area.
Protesters were clearly informed that they would not be allowed to move towards the Bangladesh High Commission. Despite the restrictions, some attempted to march forward. They breached the first layer of barricades before being stopped at the second.
To block further movement, police placed a DTC bus on the road. Repeated warnings were issued, urging the crowd to disperse peacefully. The protest witnessed slogans, religious chants, and the burning of an effigy.
