Deepika Padukone has made history by becoming India’s first-ever Mental Health Ambassador, appointed by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. As the founder of The Live Love Laugh Foundation, she has long been a powerful voice for mental health awareness, inspired by her own journey. This role marks a major step towards strengthening India’s mental health ecosystem and normalising conversations around emotional well-being.
Deepika Padukone Promotes Wellness
Union Minister J. P. Nadda highlighted that her involvement will help spread awareness, reduce stigma, and bring mental health to the forefront of public health dialogue. Deepika expressed deep gratitude, calling it an honour to support the nation in building a compassionate and inclusive mental health framework under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
In her new position, she will collaborate with the ministry on initiatives such as Tele MANAS, advocate for equal access to care, and promote a blend of science with traditional practices like yoga and meditation. Reflecting on her decade-long mission, she said that nothing compares to hearing, “You’ve helped save a life,” signifying a new era for mental health advocacy in India.
