The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, registered a sweeping victory in the Maharashtra local body elections, emerging as the dominant political force across municipal councils and nagar panchayats. The alliance won 207 of the 288 municipal president posts, significantly outpacing the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which managed a combined tally of 44 seats, according to final figures released by the State Election Commission.
Among the alliance partners, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party, securing 117 posts, followed by Shiv Sena with 53 and the NCP with 37. The Congress won 28 seats, while Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) secured nine and seven posts, respectively. Independents and unrecognised parties accounted for the remaining seats.
