‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, is now officially set to release in theatres. They initially planned to release it on May 9, but delayed it due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. This led producer Maddock Films to consider a direct-to-OTT release via Prime Video on May 16.
New release date
However, the decision sparked a legal dispute with PVRInox, which claimed breach of contract and demanded Rs 60 crore in damages. Sources say a court has resolved the matter by ruling in favour of a theatrical release. The movie will now release in theatres on May 23, 2025. Promotions for the film will resume on May 15. Interestingly, while Hindi films typically follow an eight-week gap before hitting OTT platforms, the film will stream on Prime Video just two weeks later, on June 6. This exception was court-mandated and will not apply to future releases. PVRInox has now withdrawn its compensation claim.
