The Karnataka government has blamed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the Bengaluru stampede that killed 11 people and injured over 15 near Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium. The incident happened after RCB’s IPL victory parade drew a huge crowd. In its report, the government said RCB did not follow safety rules or make proper plans for the event. It also said the team failed to work with the police to control the crowd.
RCB Parade Held Without Clearance
According to the report, RCB conducted a celebratory parade on June 3 without receiving police clearance, which later led to the tragic Bengaluru stampede. The team only informed the police about the event but did not apply for formal approval, as required under law. The Cubbon Park Police Station did not grant permission due to missing details like expected crowd size and arrangements. The Karnataka High Court made the report public, rejecting the state’s request to keep it confidential.
