A shocking incident unfolded at a private engineering college in South Bengaluru. A 21-year-old sixth-semester student, Jeevan Gowda, was arrested for allegedly raping his seventh-semester classmate inside a men’s toilet on October 10, 2025. The survivor filed a complaint 5 days later, prompting police to register a case under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Bengaluru Campus Rape Incident
According to the FIR, the accused had called the survivor to the seventh floor during lunch, attempted to forcibly kiss her, and followed her to the sixth floor, where he allegedly assaulted her, locking the washroom and confiscating her phone. No CCTV coverage existed, but forensic and digital evidence is being examined.
The case has triggered strong political reactions, with BJP leader R Ashoka condemning Karnataka’s deteriorating law and order, citing 979 sexual assaults in four months. Authorities are investigating the incident, while the college has yet to issue a statement.
