China has firmly objected to an impending movie by Salman Khan, Battle of Galwan, following the appearance of its trailer on December 27. The project has sparked renewed discussion about the 2020 Galwan Valley confrontation. The film was later criticised by the Chinese state-run daily Global Times. It accused the producers of massaging the truth and stated that there was no way a film depiction could interfere with the “holy land” of China.
The report also took issue with the portrayal of the heroism of Indian Army Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu. His sacrifice was described by the author as a so-called pivotal role.
China Opposes Battle of Galwan
The article accused Indian forces of violating the Line of Actual Control. It alleged that India had deliberately instigated the June 15, 2020, confrontation and destabilised the border situation.
Although India admitted to the death of approximately 20 soldiers, the Chinese publication made fresh accusations. It charged New Delhi with inflating casualty figures and misleading the international community. China later acknowledged four deaths, after previously denying that it had suffered any losses.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Battle of Galwan is scheduled for release in April 2026. Chitrangada Singh also plays a major role in the film.
