Bajendra Biswas was the third Hindu killed in Bangladesh within a few days, fuelling concerns that violence against minorities was on the rise. The 40-year-old Biswas was shot dead on December 29, 2025, in the evening in Bhaluka Upazila of Mymensingh. The killing followed the alleged lynching of a factory worker, Dipu Chandra Das, by a mob over false blasphemy accusations, as well as the death of Amrit Mondal.

At around 6.30 pm, the incident took place at the garment factory of Sultana Sweaters Limited, located in the Mehrabari area, where Biswas was employed. He belonged to Ansar Bahini, a paramilitary support force under the Bangladesh Ministry of Home Affairs. His colleague, Noman Mia, who is also an Ansar member, reportedly pointed a gun at Bajendra’s thigh and asked, “Shall I shoot?” before firing and fleeing the scene. He has since been arrested.
According to local media, around 20 Ansar personnel were stationed at the factory at the time. The killing comes amid reports of continued attacks on minorities under the interim government led by Yunus. India has expressed serious concern and is closely monitoring the situation.
