The Allahabad High Court has expressed serious concern about women being trained by male gym instructors without proper safeguards. The remarks came during a hearing of a Meerut case, where a woman accused her trainer of caste-based abuse, harassment, and misconduct. Justice Shaker Kumar Yadav observed that the allegations could attract provisions of the SC/ST Act and sections of the IPC, highlighting the urgent need for stronger protections and better Gym Safety India measures.
Allahabad High Court Concern
The court asked the investigating officer to clarify if the gym was officially registered, whether the accused trainer had been detained, and if female trainers were at the facility. It also recorded allegations of obscene videos being shared, which may invite additional IPC charges. The matter is scheduled to be heard again in the Allahabad High Court on 8 September.
