Al Qaeda

A 30-year-old woman, Shama Parveen, has been arrested in Bengaluru by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Officials say she was running a terror module linked to Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and managing its operation from Karnataka. Her arrest follows the recent bust of a terror module in Ahmedabad, where four men were caught for spreading extremist content online.

Investigators say the group used Instagram and other platforms to promote Al Qaeda module ideology and push violent propaganda. Their goal, according to police, was to radicalize youth and call for an armed rebellion in India. Last year, another key suspect linked to Hizb ut-Tahrir was arrested at Bengaluru airport while trying to flee the country.
