Ramesh initially believed he hadn’t made it, but soon realised he was still alive. Spotting an opening in the fuselage, he managed to free himself. “I unbuckled my seatbelt, used my leg to push through the gap, and crawled out,” he recalled. It remains unclear whether the opening was a door or a tear in the fuselage caused by the impact.
Describing the horrifying scene, he added, “When I stood up, there were bodies everywhere. I was terrified. I ran. Debris from the plane was scattered all around. Someone grabbed me, placed me in an ambulance, and I was taken to the hospital.”
