India will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Ahmedabad confirmed as the host city. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar confirmed on X that Ahmedabad will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, calling it a proud moment for India and Gujarat. The post, highlighting PM Modi’s vision for world-class sports but the post has now been deleted.

The Games in Ahmedabad will also mark the centenary edition, 100 years after the first Commonwealth Games held in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930.

Ahmedabad Hosts 2030 Commonwealth Games

Commonwealth Sport has proposed Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s largest city, as the host for the 100th edition of the Games. The proposal will now go to the full Commonwealth Sport membership for approval, with the final decision to be announced at the General Assembly in Glasgow on 26 November. India last hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in New Delhi, making this the country’s second time hosting the event.

Ahmedabad will welcome athletes, officials, and visitors from around the world for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The city is set to showcase modern sports infrastructure, renovated stadiums, and improved facilities that meet international standards. The event is expected to strengthen India’s sporting culture and highlight Gujarat as a key destination for global events. While Nigeria had also submitted a proposal under the ‘Games Reset’ model, Ahmedabad has been chosen to lead. The centenary edition will be a historic celebration of sport in India and a milestone on the international stage.
