To make Indore free from beggars, district authorities announced on Monday that starting January 1, 2025, they will register FIRs against individuals who give alms. District Collector Ashish Singh informed that the administration has already issued an order prohibiting begging in the city. In recent months, the administration has uncovered several gangs that force individuals to beg, and many of those engaged have been rehabilitated. The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched a pilot effort to make ten cities in the country beggar-free, including Indore.
