China Launches Rockets Near Taiwan During Military Drills! Flights Diverted, Ports Affected

China

China has initiated massive military exercises along the Taiwanese coastline, including rocket firing, as a demonstration of power to test military preparedness and warn what it deems forces of “Taiwan independence”. Taiwan denounced the exercises, saying they amount to military intimidation and endanger peace and stability in the region.

The Chinese army, navy, air force, and rocket forces were deployed under the Justice Mission 2025. Taiwan was surrounded by five key exercise zones involving destroyers, frigates, fighter jets, bombers, drones, and operations as close as 12 nautical miles from its coast.

Chinese Drills Disrupt Flights

On 1st November, Taiwan detected 89 Chinese aircraft and 28 warships in a single day, prompting the Civil Aviation Administration to issue a Temporary Danger Area. The move affected more than 100,000 passengers across 857 flights, with widespread delays and diversions reported.

Taiwan deployed troops and coastguard vessels to monitor the drills. The Chinese defended the action as a necessary measure against threats to their sovereignty and warned of ending foreign arms sales to Taiwan following a US deal worth 11 billion dollars (Rs 91,300 crore).
