Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025: Virat Kohli Scores Half Century in Delhi vs Gujarat Match

Vijay Hazare

Virat Kohli continued his impressive run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 with a fluent half-century for Delhi against Gujarat. The Elite phase match was played in Bengaluru on December 26, 2025. The 37-year-old played a commanding knock of 77 off 61 balls, anchoring Delhi’s innings with confidence and intent.

Explosive Half-Century

Kohli reached his 50 in just 29 deliveries, striking 11 fours and 1 six during his stay at the crease. His innings ended when he was stumped off left-arm spinner Vishal Jayswal, with wicketkeeper Urvil Patel completing the dismissal.

Earlier in the tournament, Kohli marked his return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after 15 years with a superb 131 off 101 balls against Andhra. The knock guided Delhi to a four-wicket win. During that innings, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest player to reach 16,000 runs in men’s List A cricket, achieving the milestone in his 330th innings.

Kohli now holds the record for being the fastest to every 1,000-run mark in List A cricket from 10,000 onwards. Like Rohit Sharma, he is making a comeback to India’s premier domestic 50-over competition. Kohli last featured in the tournament in the 2009–10 season, while Rohit Sharma’s previous appearance came in the 2017–18 season. Both players have retired from Tests and T20Is but remain in contention for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
