Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has sparked fresh debate with sweeping claims about Pakistan’s military capabilities following recent tensions with India after Operation Sindoor. While pitching Pakistan’s defence exports, including the JF-17 fighter jet, to Libya’s Libyan National Army, Munir asserted that Pakistan’s armed forces relied on “90% indigenous technology” and achieved major battlefield successes against India.
In a video, Munir is heard claiming that Pakistan’s Air Force shot down Indian Rafale, Su-30, MiG-29, and Mirage-2000 fighter jets and even neutralised the S-400 air defence system.

JUST IN: Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir says Pakistan overcame fear, built its own tech, and proved it in a recent war with India; claiming Indian Rafales, Su-30s, MiG-29s, Mirage 2000s, and even S-400s were “taken out.” pic.twitter.com/ZGQlCNv8US

Contrary to Munir’s assertions, satellite imagery, wreckage studies, international reporting, and expert analysis show no confirmed loss of any Indian aircraft or the S-400 system. Investigations also point to extensive use of Chinese-origin missiles, drones, and avionics by Pakistan.
Defence experts note that the JF-17 itself is a joint China–Pakistan platform, with core systems supplied by China, challenging the claim of largely indigenous technology.
