Saudi Arabia has deported around 56,000 Pakistani nationals. The action was taken over allegations of involvement in organised begging rackets. The deportations occurred despite Pakistan’s efforts to restrict overseas travel. Authorities have been attempting to curb illegal activities linked to visa misuse.
In 2025 alone, Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency offloaded 66,154 passengers from outbound flights. The step was taken to prevent organised begging rings and illegal migration. Pakistan also placed thousands of citizens on the Exit Control List to stop them from travelling abroad.
Despite these actions, misuse of pilgrimage and tourist visas has continued, drawing increased scrutiny from host countries. Growing concerns have led to tighter visa rules across West Asia. Several countries have increased checks on Pakistani travellers. Last month, the United Arab Emirates sharply curtailed visa issuance for most Pakistani citizens.
Saudi Arabia Warns Over Umrah Visa Misuse
Saudi Arabia had earlier urged Pakistan to stop beggars from misusing Umrah visas. Officials warned that entry into Mecca and Medina was being abused. Pakistani beggars have also been reported in countries such as Kuwait, Azerbaijan, and Bahrain. The issue is not limited to Saudi Arabia. Officials warned that failure to control the situation could affect genuine Umrah and Hajj pilgrims.
