Soon after its release, the song sparked outrage online, with social media users criticising its lyrics, visuals, choreography, and styling. Many called the track “cringe,” “vulgar,” and an awkward attempt at copying K-pop aesthetics, comparing it unfavourably to international pop acts.

Users were quick to mock Candy Shop, with several calling it a cheap imitation of K-pop groups like BLACKPINK. Critics targeted the repetitive lyrics, flashy styling, and dance moves, claiming the song lacked originality. Many felt Neha Kakkar’s attempt to blend global pop trends came across as forced and uncomfortable.
