The decision follows threats to the Indian High Commission and anti-Indian remarks by political leaders. New Delhi formally summoned Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to register a strong protest, citing concerns over the safety of Indian officials and visa applicants.

The IVAC at Jamuna Future Park was shut midday, with officials confirming that affected applicants will receive fresh appointment dates. India operates 16 visa centres across Bangladesh, processing nearly 22 lakh applications annually. The suspension comes as both nations exchange diplomatic summons, highlighting the growing strain in bilateral relations.
