A peaceful Jewish Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach turned into a scene of horror on Sunday when two gunmen dressed in black opened fire on a crowd of nearly 1,000–2,000 people. At least 12 people were killed, and several others were injured as more than 50 bullets were fired.

What Happened at Bondi Beach
The attack occurred during a Hanukkah gathering, a religious and cultural event attended by a large crowd. People were seen fleeing the area or hiding inside nearby buildings. Emergency teams rushed to the scene and transported victims to hospitals across Sydney.
Terror Angle Probed
New South Wales Police confirmed that one shooter was killed during an exchange of fire with officers, while the second gunman was wounded and taken into custody.
One of the attackers was identified as 24-year-old Naveed Akram, a resident of Bonnyrigg in south-west Sydney. Counter-terrorism teams carried out raids at his residence. Investigators are examining possible online radicalisation, extremist material, and Gaza-linked narratives. Intelligence agencies believe the choice of a Jewish event was deliberate, and the coordinated clothing and sustained gunfire suggest advance planning.
