Nandamuri Balakrishna’s highly anticipated Telugu sequel Akhanda 2 was expected to release on December 5 but has now been postponed indefinitely due to escalating legal and financial troubles. The sudden delay has left fans disappointed and created uncertainty across the Telugu film industry.
Earlier on the release day, ticket-booking issues in the Nizam region raised concerns, followed by the cancellation of paid premieres and the non-clearance of overseas KDMs, indicating deeper problems in the release plan.
Overall Reason for Akhanda 2’s Postponement
The postponement is driven by multiple factors, primarily legal issues in Tamil Nadu. The film faced uncertainty after a court dispute with Eros International Media Limited, which resulted in a Madras High Court order restraining its release. The court issued the injunction in favour of Eros International.
The court’s decision was based on an appeal related to a long-standing arbitral dispute against 14 Reels Entertainment Private Limited, amounting to approximately Rs 28 crore.
