India’s most expensive number plate has just been sold. The registration HR88B8888 created history in Haryana after it was purchased for Rs 1.17 crore in the latest VIP number auction. The bidding opened on Friday evening on the fancy.parivahan.gov.in portal with a base price of Rs 50,000. A total of 45 people joined the contest. By Wednesday noon, the bid had already reached Rs 88 lakh, and it finally closed at a stunning amount at 5 pm. Last week, the plate HR22W2222 was sold for Rs 37.91 lakh.
HR88B8888: What Makes It Special
Here’s why this number plate stands out:
- The letter B resembles the number 8.
- The plate visually appears as a long chain of 8.
- HR indicates the Haryana state code.
- 88 represents the specific RTO code in Haryana.
