Rohini Acharya

Rohini Acharya, daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has announced that she is quitting politics and disowning her family. In a post on X, she said she was following instructions from Sanjay Yadav and Rameez and taking responsibility for the decision. Rohini contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Saran, Bihar, and supported her father and the RJD. Her announcement comes after the Mahagathbandhan’s loss in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

Who Is Rohini Acharya?

Rohini is Lalu Prasad Yadav’s second daughter and Tejashwi Yadav’s sister. She holds an MBBS degree and is married to software engineer Samresh Singh. Rohini entered politics last year and supported her father’s decisions, including expelling her elder brother Tej Pratap from the party. She also donated a kidney to her father in December 2024, showing her strong personal bond with him.

Why Rohini Quit Politics

Rohini Acharya said she is leaving politics and disowning her family as per the advice of RJD leaders Sanjay Yadav and Rameez. Her announcement came a day after the RJD–Congress Mahagathbandhan lost badly in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, winning fewer than 50 seats. The BJP-led NDA secured a clear majority with 204 seats, shifting the political scene in Bihar.
