Why Did CSK Trade Ravinder Jadeja to RR?

CSK

The long-speculated move was officially confirmed on Saturday morning as the IPL governing council announced that Ravindra Jadeja, the star all-rounder, has been traded from five-time champions Chennai Super Kings to Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 14 crore. Previously retained by CSK for Rs 18 crore ahead of IPL 2025, Jadeja’s value was reduced as part of the trade deal. Along with him, Sam Curran also joined RR, while CSK welcomed Sanju Samson in return.

Jadeja’s Departure Reason Revealed

CSK Managing Director Kasi Viswanathan explained that the decision to let go of Ravindra, a loyal player since 2012, was extremely tough but necessary considering the team composition and the transition of ageing players.

Viswanathan added that the move was made after consulting him, and he felt he was at the fag end of his white-ball career and was open to a new opportunity. He acknowledged fans’ emotions but emphasised that the change was vital for CSK’s long-term performance and team strategy.
