IPL’s Biggest Trade: Ravindra Jadeja Moves to RR, CSK Signs Sanju Samson

IPL

The IPL 2026 season witnesses its biggest trade yet as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) finalise a blockbuster deal involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson. After days of unofficial confirmations, reports on November 10 revealed that the franchises had verbally agreed to the swap, which also includes all-rounder Sam Curran. By November 14, all paperwork was completed, leaving only the official announcement before the IPL retention deadline on November 15.

Jadeja–Samson Swap

Both Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson were valued at Rs 18 crore each. They were part of a direct swap between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In addition, RR paid Rs 2.40 crore to CSK for Sam Curran, matching his last auction price. Initially, RR sought Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis but settled for Curran, strengthening their all-round options.

Jadeja is expected to take over as RR’s captain, while Samson’s arrival at CSK signals a new era, offering a star Indian wicketkeeper-batter with leadership experience as MS Dhoni nears retirement. This trade surpasses previous IPL deals, cementing its historic significance.
