At least 12 people were killed and 27 injured in a suicide blast in Islamabad on Tuesday, claimed by the Pakistan Taliban, or Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The explosion occurred around 12:30 pm outside the district court buildings, a busy area filled with lawyers and litigants.

According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the bomber attempted to enter the court premises but, after failing, targeted a police vehicle instead. The TTP stated that the attack targeted judges and officials enforcing “un-Islamic laws”, vowing further strikes until Sharia law is implemented.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif called it a “wake-up call”, warning that the nation is in a state of war amid a deadly rise in terror attacks.

Officials linked the assault to ongoing tensions with Afghanistan, accusing the Afghan Taliban of sheltering TTP militants. The blast marks one of Islamabad’s deadliest attacks in recent years, underscoring Pakistan’s escalating security crisis.
