Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, revealed that legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar personally called her the night before India’s historic Women’s World Cup final against South Africa. During the call, Tendulkar shared his experiences and advised her to maintain balance on the field, slow down the game when needed, and exercise control under pressure, warning that rushing could lead to mistakes.

Harmanpreet said his words were not just advice but a guiding force that helped her stay composed ahead of the high-stakes match.

Historic Triumph

Reflecting on the victory, Harmanpreet said lifting the trophy with her parents was a lifelong dream and a defining moment in her 16-year international career. She credited key players such as Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, and Shafali Verma for pivotal performances, highlighting Shafali’s crucial breakthroughs in the final and Deepti’s 22 wickets and 215 runs.

Harmanpreet described the triumph as surreal, noting that the team’s effort and Tendulkar’s guidance were instrumental in achieving India’s historic Women’s World Cup win.
