Apple seems to be pulling back on its iPhone Air plans after disappointing sales figures. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company is reportedly scaling down production and shipments due to weaker-than-expected demand. Introduced as part of the iPhone 17 lineup, the iPhone Air struggled to find its place between the Pro and standard models, prompting suppliers to cut capacity by over 80% by early 2026. Some component makers are even expected to halt production by the end of 2025.
iPhone Air Faces Uncertain Future
Experts note that the iPhone Air’s lukewarm reception mirrors the fate of past mid-tier models like the iPhone mini and iPhone Plus. Both models failed to secure a loyal customer base. While this doesn’t necessarily spell the end for the iPhone Air, Apple is likely to shift focus toward its higher-demand Pro models.
With a $999 (Rs 83,000 to Rs 84,000 INR) price tag, the iPhone Air offers few standout features. It risks becoming another one of Apple’s short-lived experiments that couldn’t win over its audience.
