A shocking tragedy unfolded in Satara, Maharashtra, where a woman doctor reportedly took her own life after enduring months of sexual and mental harassment by a police sub-inspector. In a note written on her palm, she accused SI Gopal Badne of raping her four times over five months and subjecting her to physical and mental abuse. She also cited harassment by another officer, Prashant Bankar.

Woman Doctor’s Prior Complaints

The doctor, serving at Phaltan sub-district hospital, had previously written to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in June, naming Badne, Sub-Divisional Inspector Patil, and Assistant Inspector Ladputre, and requesting urgent action. Despite her complaints, no effective measures were taken, leaving her under extreme stress.

Following the incident, Badne was suspended on the orders of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and law enforcement teams have been tasked with locating and arresting the accused.
