The Asia Cup 2025 trophy remains a point of contention as Mohsin Naqvi, head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has refused to hand it over to Team India despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) official request. Naqvi has instead urged the BCCI to hold a presentation ceremony in India and send a player to collect the trophy personally.
The dispute began when India, upset over Naqvi’s remarks, declined to accept the trophy and medals during the post-match ceremony. Offended by the move, Naqvi instructed ACC officials to remove the trophy from the stage.

At a meeting on September 30, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla requested Naqvi to end the standoff, but he refused. While Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have sided with the BCCI, Naqvi maintains that the ACC waited 40 minutes for India during the ceremony. He insists the trophy belongs to India but must be collected formally by a BCCI representative and a player.
