US President Donald Trump, in a firm statement from the Oval Office, directed Sergio Gor, the US Ambassador-designate to India, to prioritize American interests. ‘You better represent us, not them… But Sergio is going to do a great job,’ Trump said. Gor, nominated in August as US Ambassador and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs, recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss strategic bilateral issues.
US Ambassador to India Meets Modi
During his New Delhi visit, the US Ambassador to India discussed trade, defence, technology, and critical minerals with PM Modi. Gor presented a signed photograph of Trump to the prime minister, highlighting the leaders’ personal rapport. He described the discussions as productive and expressed confidence that India-US relations will continue to strengthen under Trump and Modi’s leadership.
