The Supreme Court on Wednesday permitted the sale and bursting of green firecrackers in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) for Diwali 2025. A Bench of Chief Justice B. R. Gavai and Justice Vinod Chandran directed that the sale of eco-friendly firecrackers will be allowed from October 18 to 20. The bursting of firecrackers is permitted only on the day before Diwali and on Diwali itself, between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., and 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., through licensed NEERI-registered vendors.

SC Permits Bursting Only Green Firecrackers
All firecrackers must carry QR codes. Police and district authorities will inspect sale points to ensure that all rules are followed. The online sale of firecrackers is prohibited, and any violations will result in confiscation. The order aims to ensure a safe and pollution-free Diwali in Delhi-NCR while allowing people to celebrate responsibly with eco-friendly fireworks.
