UK PM Keir Starmer began his first official visit to India by lighting diyas at a cultural event in Mumbai ahead of Diwali. The ceremony reflected the strong cultural ties between India and the UK. Starmer is leading a 125-member delegation to promote cooperation in trade, education, technology, and culture.
UK PM Visits India
Starmer joined Indian leaders and cultural representatives at the event. He later visited Yash Raj Films studios with CEO Akshaye Widhani and actor Rani Mukerji to encourage film collaboration. On Friday, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review progress under the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discuss key areas including trade, defence, climate, and education.
