India Calls Out Pakistan’s Hypocrisy at UN: ‘1971 Mass Rape, Fake Kashmir Narrative Can’t Be Ignored’

1971 Mass Rape

India strongly criticised Pakistan at the United Nations during a debate on women, peace, and security. India’s UN representative, Parvathaneni Harish, called Pakistan’s claims on Jammu and Kashmir a “delusional tirade” and said the country misleads the world. He highlighted the 1971 mass rape during Pakistan’s Operation Searchlight, when 400,000 Bengali women were raped. Harish said the 1971 mass rape cannot be ignored when discussing the Kashmir issue today.

1971 Mass Rape Cannot Be Ignored

Harish said Pakistan uses the Kashmir issue to conceal its past crimes. The 1971 mass rape demonstrates the extent of Pakistan’s human rights violations. Pakistan’s UN representative spoke about Kashmiri women, but India stated that historical crimes must not be used as propaganda. Operation Searchlight led to the Bangladesh Liberation War and millions of refugees fleeing to India.
