Lawrence Bishnoi Group Declared Terrorist by Canada! Says, ‘Group Instilled Fear and Violence’

Lawrence Bishnoi

Canada has officially declared the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang a terrorist group. This decision has sent shockwaves across the Indian diaspora and law enforcement agencies. Under the Criminal Code, Canadians are now prohibited from providing any financial or material support to the gang. Authorities can also freeze their assets, seize property, and file criminal charges against anyone connected to them. Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said the move gives police “enhanced powers to fight a group that spreads fear through violence and intimidation.”

Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Attacks

The Bishnoi gang originated in Rajasthan but has become a transnational threat. They are active in British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta, and have been linked to more than 50 violent incidents since 2023. These include firebombs at the homes of Punjabi musicians such as A P Dhillon and Gippy Grewal, and a shooting at comedian Kapil Sharma’s café.

Key figures, including Goldy Brar, Bishnoi’s main lieutenant in Surrey, coordinate extortion and targeted attacks from Canada. They often use encrypted apps to communicate with Bishnoi, who is imprisoned. Experts warn that Canada’s limited criminal intelligence may slow down the gang’s dismantling. Still, this designation is an important step, demonstrating zero tolerance for transnational terror and violence.
