Preliminary reports suggest that ongoing construction work for a nearby railway station may have contributed to the collapse. The dramatic event, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media, showing vehicles teetering on the edge of the enormous pit and onlookers frozen in shock.

Adding to the city’s woes, Bangkok has been experiencing heavy rainfall due to the approaching Super Typhoon Ragasa, which is expected to hit the Mekong Delta in the coming days.

The Meteorological Department has issued warnings of continued rain and thunderstorms from Tuesday to Thursday. Authorities are now assessing the damage and investigating the causes while urging citizens to avoid the affected areas until the situation stabilises. Traffic disruption and public safety remain the immediate priorities. Rescue and repair efforts are underway.
