A powerful earthquake struck near Basawul in Afghanistan, claiming over 800 lives and injuring more than 2,000 people. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, offering condolences and confirming that India has already sent 1,000 family tents to Kabul. Fifteen tonnes of food supplies are being moved to Kunar, with further relief materials to follow from India starting tomorrow.

Relief Operations Underway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences on the deadly Afghanistan earthquake and stated that India is ready to provide humanitarian aid. Authorities are coordinating relief delivery to ensure support reaches affected communities promptly, while wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.
