India Cheers Trump-Putin Talks, Calls for Early End to Ukraine War

India welcomed the Alaska summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, marking Putin’s first visit to the US in a decade. The Ministry of External Affairs praised their efforts for peace, saying, ‘The way forward can only be through dialogue and diplomacy.’ While no breakthrough was achieved, both leaders called the talks constructive.

Trump to Meet Ukrainian President

The summit set the stage for further discussion on ending the Ukrainian conflict. Trump emphasised the need for direct negotiations and hinted at future talks with Putin. He announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit Washington on Monday to pursue a direct peace agreement rather than a temporary ceasefire, signalling continued diplomatic efforts to resolve the war.
