The Indian box office just witnessed one of its biggest clashes. Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna’s ‘Coolie‘ clashed with Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘War 2‘. Fans even created the trending hashtag #CoolWar, adding more buzz to the rivalry.
Regarding collections, ‘War 2‘ delivered a solid start but fell short of the Rs 100 crore mark. The film collected nearly Rs 80 crore on its opening day, including Rs 50 crore from India. With this, Jr NTR missed completing a hat-trick of Rs 100 crore openers after ‘RRR‘ and ‘Devara’.
‘Coolie’ on Top
On the other hand, ‘Coolie’ stole the spotlight. The film grossed over Rs 150 crore worldwide on its opening day, including Rs 66 crore from India. This set a new record opening in the Tamil film industry and once again highlighted Rajinikanth’s box office supremacy. As of now, ‘Coolie’ holds dominance, while fans await whether ‘War 2‘ can rise over the holiday weekend.
